Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

Performs general maintenance and preventive maintenance in the upkeep to Sparrow Health System facilities, finishes, equipment, and grounds.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.




  • Performs general roundsman duties such as: completing work order requests, major and minor equipment repairs, general building/facilities deficiencies inspections and repairs.
  • Remove and replace various lamps in light fixtures.
  • Remove and replace stained ceiling tile.
  • Performs miscellaneous helper and laborer functions when assigned to skilled trade teams.
  • Performs grounds maintenance duties when assigned such as, but not limited to: exterior entrance cleaning, Performs cleaning tasks to assigned work areas, and other areas when requested.
  • Maintain documents, records and information pertinent to meeting Health System & Engineering safety standards, including policies and procedures using software programs and manual recording.




Job Requirements



Work Experience * One year previous experience in commercial building maintenance with basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, and general building components, including exterior grounds maintenance.
Education * High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program * Must complete ASHE within 3 years
Specialized Knowledge and Skills * Basic knowledge of power tools, hand tools and their uses. * Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with good trouble shooting abilities as normally obtained through work * experience or mechanical education. * Basic computer proficiency and ability to operate a work order system.
