The Floor Care Technician at William Newton Memorial Hospital, Winfield, KS. Cleans maintains, and restores floors using specialized equipment and chemicals, which can include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, stripping, waxing and buffing hard surfaces. Responsibilities also involve following safety protocols, handling tools and chemicals properly, and ensuring floors meet cleanliness and maintenance standards for a hospital. Full time position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs routine cleaning of all hard surface floors, carpets and stairwells. Operates the various pieces of equipment necessary to effectively perform job functions. Stripes, waxes and burnishes floors meeting organizational standards. Obeys all safety requirements and procedures at all times. Secures the work area and post proper safety notices for staff, patients and visitors. Performs preventative maintenance checks on all equipment prior to use. Performs basic maintenance on floor care, carpet and upholstery equipment. Adequately and efficiently completes duties and special projects with minimal supervision. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or management. Professional Requirements: Meets dress code standards; adheres to dress code of a specific unit. Appearance is neat and clean. Complete annual educational requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state federal and CMS regulations. ports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized time system correctly. Attends annual review and departmental inservices, as appropriate, and in a timely fashion. Attends department staff meetings. Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission, vision, core values, ethics and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department. Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Actively participates in the department CQI activities. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control. Excellent attendance record. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel and encourages interaction and discussions. Regulatory Requirements High School graduate or equivalent is preferred. Language Skills: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Skills: Knowledge of how to stripe, wax and burnish floors. Knowledge of operating various pieces of equipment necessary to effectively perform job functions, such as a high speed buffer, extractor, wet vac, pressure washer, auto scrubber, etc. Must have High School/GED and be able to pass a drug test.
