EDUCATION MINNESOTA Position Description POSITION TITLE: Field Staff Anoka JOB POSTING: 2025-07 DEPARTMENT: Field Services IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Field Services EMPLOYEE GROUP: The Education MN Professional Organization (TEMPO) LOCATION: Anoka, MN PROBATIONARY PERIOD: One (1) year FLSA/GRADE LEVEL: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Field Services, the Field Staff will support union leaders and members to build and maintain strong locals and a strong union. A Field Staff works with locals to develop and implement programs and activities related to membership growth, collective bargaining, member rights, organizing, professional issues, racial equity and social justice, political action, and community partnerships. In addition, a Field Staff engages members through leadership identification, member training, and skills development. A Field Staff actively promotes membership in and engagement with Education Minnesota, the National Education Association (NEA), and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). Education Minnesota is a member-led labor union that has identified racial equity and social justice as primary organizational goals. All staff are expected to participate, individually and collectively, in ongoing training, discussions, and activities to advance these goals. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is in a general office environment. This position will interact with employees, vendors, members, and the public on a somewhat regular basis. These interactions require judgment and discretion that can involve confidential information, private information and some disagreeable human interactions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee is required to: CONTINUOUSLY sit, talk, and hear; FREQUENTLY stand, walk, and repetitively use hands dexterously (use fingers to handle, feel), reach with hands and arms, bend and physically lift and carry up to 10 pounds; OCCASIONALLY lift up to 50 pounds and infrequently travel by various conveyances (e.g., air, rail, auto). CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION: Maintain confidential information related to the organization and all personnel, employees and staff. STARTING SALARY RANGE: First four steps of the salary schedule, in accordance with the current staff collective bargaining agreement: $101,055-$113,903 annual; placement depends on qualifications and previous experience.
