Assistant Professor of Education

SPECIAL EDUCATION PK-12, WESTMINSTER COLLEGE.

Assistant Professor of Education tenure-track position to begin Spring 2026.  The School of Education seeks a candidate for a 9-month per academic year assignment.  Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Special Education for the PDE Instructional I certification program grades PK-12.  The teaching load is three courses per semester (in person) and will include courses in the core curriculum and first-year program.  The College also expects research output in the relevant field of specialization.

A successful candidate should document:
• an earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or its equivalent from an accredited institution by August 2026.
• Special education certificate or equivalent expertise at the pre-college level.
• expertise in and experience working with children and young adults.
• expertise in and experience utilizing best practices and current research in teaching methodologies.
• evidence of proficient college teaching, including face-to-face and online formats.
• familiarity and experience using instructional technologies for teacher education, including cloud computing, collaborative environments, game-based learning, and augmented reality technologies for learning and creative expression within the environment of pre-college education.
• demonstrated potential for or record of research in teacher education, leading to a sustained record of scholarship.
• evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective collaboration, and collegiality.
