MECHANIC, Public Works – Lumberton Township is seeking a full-time mechanic. The applicant should have 5 years’ experience with class 8 trucks and heavy equipment in the following areas and: The ability to diagnose and repair: Diesel fuel systems and turbochargers, DEF exhaust and regeneration systems, Diesel engine trouble codes, Water pumps and cooling systems, Vehicle and body mounted hydraulic systems, Snow plow systems, Vehicle electrical and lighting systems, Air brake systems. Basic welding, cutting and fabrication skills will be utilized as needed. Additionally, the applicant will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of various types of light duty equipment and motor vehicles, such as construction equipment, mowers, chain saws, weed trimmers, blowers, leaf collection systems, street sweepers, pick-up trucks, police vehicles, fire apparatus, and ambulances. These responsibilities consist of but are not limited to the diagnosis and repair of engines, on-board computer components, electrical systems, HVAC systems, brake systems, transmissions, and tires. The ability to read and use technical manuals, specifications, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides to diagnose and make repairs is a must. Any previous formal training from an automotive accredited vocational or community college will be considered and credited to overall experience and knowledge. Any certifications such as but not limited to ASE A-1 through A-9 and ASE T1 through T8 is a plus but not necessarily a requirement. Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement is required. Must be willing to take direction and perform a variety of tasks such as manual labor as assigned by the Superintendent of Public Works, must have knowledge and experience working with various tools and equipment such as hand tools, air tools, tire machines, brake lathes, grinders, electronic scanners, welding and cutting tools. Work in all kinds of weather, on-call and available as overtime for emergencies such as snow and rain events.
